The Secret a film produced by Prime Time Productions was mainly focused on optimistic thinking and positive views. The movie states that all the things one wants can be accomplished by believing in it. The DVDs of the movie and the Book of the same name were distributed successfully. The Movie and the Book both had same topic and attracted interests of many different eminent personalities. Some of the eminent media figures like Ellen DeGeneres, Larry king and Oprah Winfrey described it as an interesting topic though many mainstream presses were criticising it.
The Secret which is mostly like a self help Movie used the documentary format to show the law of attraction. The movie explains that the Law of Attraction is a principal which posits that thoughts and feelings can attract events. It varies from working of cosmos to the interaction among individuals. The most important aspects here are the physical, professional, and the emotional affairs. The story shows that the people in power have a strong tendency to keep the central principal hidden from people.
There were interviews of different authors and professionals from the field of quantum physics, psychology, metaphysics, coaching, theology, philosophy, finance, fengshui, medicine, and personal development. Some of these individuals, at their Web sites, promote the film and their connection to it. A few of the individuals with only brief appearances do not specifically speak of the “Law of Attraction” in their interviews, so their support of the concepts is based on viewer assumption.
Some individuals who mainly focus on law of attraction and were interviewed in the film were later featured on some of the prominent American TV shows. There were many people who believed in this law and spoke about their association with the film. Also there were many who were of the same view but did not really use the phrase Law of Attraction.
The authors of The Secret cite the New Thought movement that began in the late 19th century as the historical basis for their ideas. Essentially, The Secret is touting the principles of New Thought and Unity Christianity. The teachers of The Secret have been regulars on New Thought circuit for years now more prosperous than ever.
Rhonda Byrne’s inspirational movie was based on a different thought about life and how to approach things in an optimistic manner. There were many books which had preceded this movie and were based on New Thoughts. The movie has some fast paced sequences which portray the alleged history of The Secret. There are sequences of series of brief scenes of the business elite meeting in a contemporary board room.
The Secret website cites the Emerald Tablet, said to be written by Hermes Trismegistus as one of the most important historical documents known to mankind. Byrne posits that the earliest trace of the secret occurred in the Emerald Tablet followed much later by the Rosicrucians. Mention is made of Victor Hugo and Ludwig van Beethoven’s supposed membership in the order as well as Isaac Newton’s purported work in translating the tablet. No solid evidence has been shown proving this, it is more speculation and fiction than anything else.
Carolyn Sackariason of the Aspen Times, when commenting about Byrne’s intention to share The Secret with the world, identifies the Rosicrucians as keepers of The Secret.
The Mastery of Life is not difficult to grasp, but the secret of the Rosicrucian tradition has been protected and preserved for thousands of years, shown only to those who have proven a true desire to know.
Neither the words “Emerald Tablet” nor “Rosicrucian” are spoken in the film, however, at key transition points the screen image rapidly zooms in on the word “Rosicrucian”.

The secret refers to the claims that the mind has power over the health and it was considered to be the most controversial part in the movie. The film features one man who was paralyzed, mute, and on a ventilator after his spine and diaphragm were crushed in an airplane accident. He credits his full recovery to the power of his mind. A similar story is told by another interview whose breast cancer went into spontaneous remission without medical intervention.
There have much criticism about the movie. The critics have expressed severe concerns and have spoke about the detrimental affects by the movie on health as well as individual well-being of a person. Even though the film asserts that for severe illness traditional medicines should be used but some doctor’s experts seriousness saying that the guidelines of the film will prompt people to reject medicines and focus on positive thinking. Though avoiding medicines could lead to detrimental affects but the fact the about the motive behind the secret is that people should forget negative thoughts and lead life in the most optimistic and positive manner.
